Review:

This witty and spectacular comic fantasy is probably the most success- ful idea to be conceived by the Belushi/Aykroyd partnership (previous endeavours being The Blues Brothers and 1941). The special effects are inventive and spectacular, the performances, particularly of Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver (a refreshing change of pace after Alien) are excellent, and the script by Aykroyd and Harold Ramis ensures plenty of sly humour and imaginative visual gags.

Based on. the rather improbable adventures of a trio of hapless `scien- tists', (Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis), who after having their university grant withdrawn, form the firm of `Ghostbusters', an organisation with the aim of rooting out, and disposing of any bothersome spirits. However, prob- lems arise when Environmental Protection Officer, Walter Peck forces our heroes to shut down their protection grid, releasing all the captured ghosts onto an unsuspecting New York. Even bigger problems arise when a demi- god, Gozer appears in the city with the soul aim of laying waste to the whole planet..... Who you gonna call?
