Director: Russell Mulcahy

Starring: Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Ali Larter

The world has become a giant wasteland, the remains of the greatest plague ever known to man – the T-Virus, created in a lab in the now destroyed Raccoon City that leaves its victims as hideous, bloodthirsty animals. They are the walking undead, and the world is now theirs.

Within the darkness of Raccoon City, sealed off to contain the virus, there was a claustrophobic fear. Now, even in the blazing sunlight of the Nevada desert, what few survivors there are struggling to survive, too scared to exit their vehicles for too long. The virus surrounds them, and its terrible effects echo from every sand dune. They have learned to keep moving, but supplies are beginning to run low. The rag-tag group of automobiles they own are a security they cannot do without, but keeping them running as fuel resources dry-up is another matter entirely. To be stranded here is to face death, one way or the other…

There was, of course, a survivor of the Raccoon City massacres; a woman, Alice (Jovovich, The Fifth Element) who herself is infected with the virus. Yet she is different. The virus has made her stronger, fitter, and now she finds her powers are growing in new and unfathomable ways. But Alice is herself being hunted down by the Umbrella Corporation, the group behind the release of the virus and the men with the blood of the world on their hands. Her capture might signal the end of the world from a different threat. She is the sole hope left for the band of travellers, and the sole help left for the world.

With excellent direction from Mulcahy, who clearly knows what fans want to see, this film is a great addition to the Resident Evil series, and definitely doesn’t disappoint. But for those new to the films it won’t take long to get gripped by the action, gore, guns, and of course, the multi talented Jovovich.
