Review:

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) adds new blood to his mercenary team, the Expendables, with the aim of taking down ruthless arms dealer and co-founder Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who is determined to wipe out every one of them. This is their most personal battle yet.

This is a pure ensemble piece: adding stars like Antonio Banderas to members of the old team, ranging from Dolph Lundgren to Jason Statham, with cameos from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Harrison Ford, and there is great chemistry between them all. It is great fun, filled with action – explosive, brash and all the team get involved – and humour as well. It harks back to a golden era of action films, full of gratuitous violence, hundreds of explosions, over-the-top action sequences and the snarky one-liners throughout: anyone watching will have a great time. With a film like this, you know what you’re going to get, and you know it’ll be good.
